This page will help you interpret the results of your BeatScanner analysis.

The score calculated by our analysis software shows you the amount of variation in the rhythm. What it tells you: Green color indicates a low level of irregularity, yellow indicates a somewhat irregular rhythm and red indicates an irregular rhythm.

If the irregularity score is red

The most common reason for this is a poor quality signal that gets interpreted as irregular. If you check the signal representation tab the signal might look something like the picture below.

If the signal quality is very poor the analysis software is not able to accurately identify the beats. In the above example picture the numbers in the top are the interval lengths between beats in milliseconds. The intervals appear to be very irregular since the analysis software is unable to accurately identify most beats from the poor quality signal.

Please note that if your score is on the red and your signal representation picture looks something like the picture below it might indicate an actual cardiac arrhythmia such as atrial fibrillation and the irregularity should be investigated by a healthcare professional.

So be sure to always check the signal representation picture to see if it is in line with the irregularity score.

If the irregularity score is yellow

The analyzed rhythm is somewhat irregular so be sure to check the respective signal representation picture to see if it is in line with the irregularity score. If you suspect irregularities in the rhythm, please consult a physician.

If the irregularity score is green

The analysis did not reveal major irregularities in the analyzed rhythm. If you still suspect irregularities in the rhythm, please consult a physician.

Beat rate

The beat rate tab shows the average beat rate during the entire recording. You can also zoom in to look at shorter time periods and even individual beats.

Distribution of beat intervals

The distribution of beat intervals tab shows the length of the intervals between the analyzed beats in milliseconds. The amount of intervals of different length are grouped and shown at 50 millisecond intervals.

Signal representation

The signal representation tab shows the full signal that was analyzed by the BeatScanner cloud service. You can swipe to the side and zoom in and out to look at different sections of the signal. The example picture above shows a normal signal with no irregularities related to the heart rhythm. What signal representation tells you: If the signal quality was ok or not and whether the score is likely to be correct.
